Dr. Mike Tung, ND, BScH

Board Member

Dr. Mike Tung (he/him) is a Naturopathic Doctor, entrepreneur, and advocate for improving healthcare. His passion is helping people harmonize the complexities of their stories, because every person’s story is more important than their symptoms. This means that he considers all aspects of health – physical, mental, social, and spiritual. Dr. Mike firmly believes that healthcare should be delivered from a client-centered, collaborative, evidence-based approach; and that CSMVA is an essential support network that protects people from facing the shortcomings of the system on their own.

His private practice focuses on mind-body health conditions such as chronic pain, psychological distress, digestion – anything that is exacerbated by stress. Dr. Mike uses modalities derived from the latest research in brain science, which include Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Mind-Body Medicine, and Lifestyle Medicine.

Dr. Mike is trained in the integrative management of mental health, and how to hold space for critical conversations about stress, T/trauma, adverse childhood experiences, relationships, identity, and meaning. He is a member of the Psychiatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Prior to naturopathic medical school, Dr. Mike completed a Bachelor of Science Honours with a major in Psychology and minor in Philosophy so that he could study how the mind and stress influence health – components that are often missing in standard healthcare.

The entrepreneurial spirit is at the heart of how Dr. Mike provides value. Outside of clinical practice, he is a business owner, co-founding a clothing/events company with his brother in 2014. Over a decade, his company has evolved into a hub that fosters the geek community in Toronto.

Dr. Mike believes that ultimately, we all want to live a good life. Although this looks different for everyone, fundamentally it requires fulfillment, happy times, supportive relationships, connection to something bigger than oneself, and being healthy so that all the above are possible.
